A fantastic very rare country made table and perfectly matching chairs.
Table description
Featuring a plank construction and 7 tapering planks on the top which are tongue and groove jointed together.

Under the amazing figured Oak top whilst we were restoring, we discovered the original makers mark in the form of a paper inscription. Lifting up a loose piece of wood in the pedestal reveals this provenance as the pictures show. We have purposely left this cover loose for viewing and is easily accessible from lightly pushing underneath. The inscription dates the item to 1798 and even describes the exact place the table was made in Shropshire.

The table top stands on its lovely pedestal base incorporating an acorn shape turned pillar which goes to 4 shaped and scratch moulded legs. This fantastic table is in superb condition for its age, the top flips up smoothly and latches on its original brass latch with a satisfying snap. The joints are all as tight as they should be with no wobbles and the top has no open joints or twisting. The top is removable via its 2 original brass headed wing screws.

This table can accommodate 4 chairs and be used as a formal dining room or even a breakfast table.
Chair Description
Original Georgian set of 5 Ash country made kitchen/dining chairs in superb condition made around the same period as the table C1800. This country set of chairs features a traditional spindle stick back design with solid ash seats which finish to a shaped front rail. The chairs incorporate shaped hoof turned front legs either side of a turned turned lower stretcher showing some lovely slight wear to the tops. These chairs feature their lovely original colour and original polished finish which we have just enhanced by cleaning and waxing.

These chairs have been looked after and cared for as it is very rare to find a set of Georgian country chairs in such good condition. Over time many of these sets get split into smaller sets or singles.

These chairs are strong and are completely original with no loose joints or wobbles and benefit from having side spindles for rigidity.
Please note; These items are in outstanding condition as shown by the photographs however being antique items of this age there are blemishes and scuffs here and there which we feel adds to its originality and heritage.

Also note: the table and the chairs do show some slight signs of woodworm which has been treated and is non structural.
