Large English Regency Pen Work Box - Chinoiserie Decorated C.1820

Description

A quite beautiful large painted penwork jewelery or table box decorated with five wonderful Chinese scenes, four sides and the top. There are stunning borders decorated with floral and foliate scrolls.

The box stands on four brass ball feet and each side has a cast brass handle in the from of a basket of flowers.

The interior has been recently re-lined in hand-marbled paper, creating a clean, fresh finish making it very usable today.

Superb condition as these are often very worn; there is one minor edge loss, insignificant but mentioned and photographed for accuracy. A grand size, measuring 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" tall; complete with working tasselled key.
