Unusual Victorian Silver Caddy Spoon by Alfred Taylor, Birmingham, 1862

Description

This exquisite Victorian solid silver caddy spoon was made in Birmingham 1862 by the silversmith Alfred Taylor. The scalloped oval bowl with a finely engraved border. The shaped flat handle engraved with foliate scrolls surrounding a vacant cartouche. The back plain and fully hallmarked. A cartouche was at some point applied to the back of the handle to reinforce a very well executed repair. it is barely visible at the front as you can see on the images. reflected in the price.

Date letter "N" for 1862.

Duty Mark.

Lion Passant.

Condition:

Very good.
