A magnificent original chest of drawers.
This truly outstanding condition tall chest of drawers features the finest flame grain book-matched Mahogany to all of the frontage and drawer fronts. This chest unusually features a hidden deep moulded top drawer, central large hat drawer with a fielded frame frontage complete with 2 faux drawers to the right making a second large hat drawer. The chest of drawers also has its stunning opposing finely turned Barley twist pedestals either side standing on 4 turned legs. Each of the drawers (apart from the hidden top) is complete with cock-beaded edges (none missing) and finely turned Mahogany knobs with mother of pearl inlays to the centre. The drawers also feature bone keyhole escutcheons in-front of its original brass locks (no keys, however, we could cut some on request).
This ornate tall Scottish chest of drawers is in an outstanding original condition featuring its original beautiful highly glazed French polished finish with a lovely sought after rich Mahogany colour. The finely dovetailed drawers are in fantastic condition, smoothly operating with little to no drawer wear and are very clean inside. The drawer runners have been repaired and rebuilt as necessary so this chest has no drawer drop when opened, they work smoothly good for many more years of use.
We have carefully cleaned and waxed this chest, maintaining its original patina whilst giving a lovely natural sheen.
This chest comes apart for transport. The plinth, legs, barley twists and drawers can be easily removed making the item much smaller and lighter to move and easier to place upstairs.
Please note; This item is in fantastic condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches and dents, however, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character to a piece.
