Rare Victorian Silver and Turquoise Glass Scent Bottle by Charles May, Birmingham 1888

Description

This is an exquisite and unusual Victorian silver lidded turquoise glass scent bottle. It is dated Birmingham 1888 and was made by Charles May, who specialised in scent bottles. The cylindrical glass body a beautiful rich turquoise colour. The screw-top solid silver lid finely engraved with foliate scrolls. The neck with clear glass stopper.

Hallmarks:

CM for Chalres May (Maker's marks partially rubbed but identifiable)

Birmingham Assay mark.

Date letter "o" for 1888.

Lion passant.

Dimensions:

Height: 8.5cm / 3.2 inches.

Diameter: 2.5cm / 1 inch.

Condition:

Very good.

Glass in perfect condition.

Lid in very good condition.
