Description

This quality Antique Edwardian Albert Chain features a T-bar drop with a double dog clip fastening, measuring 14.5" in length, modelled in 9ct Gold.

Each component and link is fully hallmarked with '375' and '9' for 9ct Gold. The T bar, Dog clips and chain are also marked with the makers mark 'W.H.C' and the piece is dated to Chester 1909.

An albert chain is a decorative chain, originally used to attach a pocket watch to the wearer's clothing. The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach the pocket watch too and the T-Bar would go through the button hole of a waistcoat to secure in place.

Today these are often worn as necklaces and the clips can be used to hang a pendant from around the neck.

This is a quality example of an Albert chain which would make a great addition to any collection.
