A set of eight mid Victorian ‘Oxford’ kitchen chairs in ash with elm seats, comprising six side chairs and two carvers, each with a curved toprail and lightly scrolling uprights with a turned midrail to the shaped seat on turned supports united by an H stretcher, each chair stamped S. HAZELL OXFORD to the back of the seat, English, Oxfordshire, circa 1850. Carvers: H: 87 W: 47 D: 40 cm
Condition: Overall very good, each chair is solid and robust and remarkably comfortable to sit on; one seat has a small split (but this is not an issue) and the chairs have been waxed and are in excellent, ready to use condition with lovely colour and patina.
