The eagle finial operates as a spring push mechanism. When turned anti clockwise and gently pushed down, it opens to reveal a fitted gilt interior. The underside of the alabaster base lined with the original turquoise paper. These "Grand Tour" sewing companions are few and far between and this is a lovely example in great condition.
