A good Chamberlain''s porcelain dessert plate with shaped rim decorated in a dark imari palette and gilt with the pattern that has become known as the jabberwocky after the poem by Lewis Carroll. In the Chamberlain records (reference Chamberlain-Worcester Porcelain, Godden), pattern number 1727 which is marked verso, is described as ''Coburg...'' (the shape) ''...drab & blue border dragon gilt''. c.1830.
It measures 22.9cm (9'') wide and 2.2cm (7/8'') high.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and very minor handling wear.
