Stunning English Victorian Sterling Silver Heart Shaped Box - 1899

Description

A wonderful and highly decorative heart shaped box covered in a plethora of repousse or embossed decoration surrounding the romantic central figural scene to the centre of the lid which is a gentleman serenading a sitting lady in a rural surrounding.

The hinged lid reveals a beautiful interior washed in gold, the lid fitting perfectly. The box is hallmarked for Birmingham 1899 together with the makers initials L & S for the well regarded silversmith Levi & Salaman. A wonderful and unusual example in excellent condition, measuring 2 1/4" deep x 1 7/8" wide x 7/8" tall.
