Tall Brass Doorstop by William Tonks

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1880-1910 a very heavy and well made brass doorstop by the well known company William Tonks & Sons.

W Tonks opened a brass foundry in Birmingham in 1789 and won several awards in London and Paris in the 1850's. This is from the later period and the trademark is inside the iron weight. It was found by our polisher when he removed it to give the item a good clean.

The doorstop measures 39cm in height, 17cm across at the back and has a depth of 10cm. It is in very good condition.
