Antique French Gold Inlaid Tortoiseshell Lorgnette C.1850

Description

A beautiful nineteenth century tortoise shell lorgnette / eyeglasses / magnifying Glass, very usable to magnifying small print or the like, it would be perfect on a gold chain keeping it close at hand.

The shell is perfect without chips or cracks, with a fine gold rope inlay to both front and back. The front also has an inlaid cartouche which could be engraved with small initials if desired. Once the small lever on the side is released, the glasses spring into action opening ready for use.

Excellent condition with the lorgnette measuring 2 7/8" without the bail and 3 /4" at widest.
