Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the early 19th century, Regency card tables were designed as versatile occasional furniture for entertaining guests with card games. They typically feature a swivel foldover top that reveals a playing surface when opened and rests neatly against a wall when closed.

High-end Regency tables frequently incorporated exotic timbers such as goncalo alves, rosewood, and mahogany, often enhanced with brass inlays or crossbanded borders. Construction involved solid timber bases, turned or reeded pedestals, and carefully matched veneer panels on the top.

Authentic Regency examples commonly feature distinct design motifs including central pedestals, splayed quadruped legs with brass castors, reeded detailing, and foldover tops with concealed storage compartments beneath the swivel mechanism. Examining the underside for hand-sawn timber and period hinges also helps confirm age.

Position the table against a wall in a hallway, entryway, or living space to serve as a console table when folded shut. Decorate the surface with structured contemporary ceramics, lamps, or framed artwork to contrast the classical woodwork and carved pedestal base.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish periodically along the grain to maintain the lustre. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage or veneer lifting.
