Large Art Deco French Bakelite Mantle Clock by Jaz, C1930s

1920 - 1940
Description

This is the daddy of true 1930s Art Deco clocks. Made in France by the very collectable JAZ company, this clock screams everything about the deco era we all love and admire, streamline, Industrial and modernist. The casing is a mottled deep red colour, verging on burgundy bakelite, gleaming and shiny as the day it was first produced. The centre dial has a superb swirl carved detailing . The hands, numerals and linear lines to the casing are chrome and in tip top condition with no pitting or tarnishing. Wind up mechanism means you don't have to worry about balancing and timing pendulums. This is a good sized clock and would make a real focal point to a mantel piece or maybe sideboard or desk. These clocks are very desirable and retain their value well and don't come onto the market very often. This clock comes to you in great condition with no damage or ageing, fully serviced and working well. Even the movement looks clean as a pin. Please note, the key was missing so we've replaced it with a fully functional replacement key from the same period. A time piece a real Art Deco connoisseur will love and admire.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
