Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bracket clocks originated in seventeenth-century England as portable timepieces designed to rest on wall brackets or tables. During the Georgian period, they developed distinctive arched or domed tops, brass handles, decorative brass mountings, and clear dial faces with roman or arabic numerals.

Traditional bracket clocks are constructed with solid or veneered timber cases, often using oak, mahogany, or walnut. Internal movements are crafted from brass and steel, accompanied by glass front doors, silvered or painted dials, and cast brass feet and handles.

Authentic pieces feature fusee or spring-driven movements with hand-cut gear teeth, hand-engraved dials or maker marks, and genuine age-related wear to the wood finish. Inspecting the mechanical movement, construction of the timber joinery, and natural oxidisation on brass components helps confirm period authenticity.

A bracket clock acts as an architectural accent piece on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or library bookshelf. Pairing timber timepieces with contemporary minimalist decor, framed art, or brass desk accessories balances traditional horology with modern aesthetics.

Keep the clock case in a climate-controlled environment away from direct sunlight, dampness, and heat sources to prevent wood movement and cracking. Clean the timber with beeswax polish using a soft cloth, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every five to seven years.
