A very good mid-19th century mahogany APOTHECARY’S CABINET in excellent condition. The solid mahogany cabinet, with its upper recessed military-style brass handles, features a pair of doors to the front. These open to reveal the interior fitted with various drawers and compartments containing a total of 16 bottles (many with original labels and some with contents) whilst the two drawers below hold further bottles and jars; glass pestle and mortar; balance scales and weights and other items.
To the back, and accessed by a “secret” inner catch is the “Poison” drawer containing four labelled bottles and stoppers. Complete with original working lock and key. 11ins high; 9ins wide (closed) and 7ins deep front-to-back.
