Description

A fine early 17th century portrait of Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange - Count of Nassau and Stadholder C1584 - 1647, After Michiel Jansz van Mierevelt C1566 - 1641.

Brilliantly painted, Frederick has his head slightly turned to his right, wearing a fine lace collar and black armour with an intricate red and gold thread sashe, decorated with foliage and trophies of war.

The oil on canvas has been relined in the early 19th century, and is housed in an adapted 17th century gilt carved frame.
