This is an extremely rare and highly decorative piece - a charger in mint condition in the Oriental taste, with a yellow ground and featuring an exotic bird surrounded by flowers in bright enamel colours and highlighted with gilt decoration. Bearing the transferware mark, ''Mason''s Patent Ironstone China'', in the form used from the second quarter of the 1800s, up until around 1890. There are holes in the rim on the reverse for attaching cord for hanging
