English Sterling Silver & Tortoiseshell Lidded Glass Box - Asprey, London

Description

A beautiful large dressing table or vanity box made from heavy crystal with faceted sides, clean and clear. The box is topped with a heavy and highly decorative lid made from sterling silver and hallmarked for London 1913. The interior is gilded and stamped "Asprey, London" - the creme de la creme.

The top of the lid is set with a large glossy piece of antique tortoiseshell with beautiful markings and a tapestry of colour, from golden champagne to rich chocolate brown. The shell is decorated with intricate silver pique inlay, quite exceptional in every way.

Excellent condition, the lid measuring 4" x 2 1/4" and the box standing 2 3/8" high.
