Gents 1950s Bernex Automatic Wrist Watch

Gents 1950s Bernex automatic wrist watch.

The watch has a 25-jewel automatic movement which is working nicely.

The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The main body of the case is gold plated while the screw-on case back is stainless steel. There is some rubbing around the edges of the lugs but you have to look closely to see it.

The back of the watch states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, seconds sweep and date display (an early form of quickset date where the hands are moved repeatedly backwards and forwards between 12 midnight and 8.30pm until the desired date is reached). There is some marking to the right hand side of the dial.

The dial is also signed with the name of the original retailer, Pidduck, Hanley, a Stoke on Trent jeweller.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
