Console tables became prominent during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, designed primarily to accent grand corridors and entrance halls. Influenced by Regency, William IV, and Victorian cabinetry styles, these tables provided a surface for gloves, letters, and decorative items while showcasing fine woodwork.
