Antique Orion silver pocket watch by Brandt & Hofmann.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has images of various medals together with the Orion logo. This mark was registered by Brandt & Hofmann (Fabrique de Montres Orion SA) in 1896. The company was listed as a manufacturer of watch movements, cases and dials. The company was founded by Edgar Werner Brandt and Edouard Hofmann of Biel, Switzerland and they were well regarded within the watch industry counting Vacheron Constantin among their customers.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Continental hallmarks inside both of the case backs for 800 silver, together with a maker’s mark for Brandt & Hofmann. The case has decoration to the hinged case back although it has become a little rubbed over the years.

The condition is good, a small patch of bruising to the side and the odd mark / minor indentation but nothing too serious at all for such an early piece.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The dial is in lovely condition. The hands are pin-set hence the small button to the side of the winding crown.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
