The carved patera''s, intertwining foliage, honeysuckle and flower bells all express the superb quality of craftsmanship on this chair, raised on square tapered forelegs, joined by H stretcher.
Detail of the stretcher with a ''V'' shaped mitre concealed dovetail, was a characteristic noted on Gillow seat furniture from the 1760''s onwards, Dalemain, Cumbria.
