Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency period desktop boxes from the early nineteenth century feature fine mahogany timber, precise joinery, and functional interior partitions or slatted racks. They were constructed for organising writing instruments, coins, glass slides, or correspondence in British homes.

Regency craftsmen typically utilised solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over pine core wood, secured with hand-cut dovetail joints. Metal elements usually featured cast brass hinges, lock plates, and small turned wooden or brass knobs.

Authentic pieces display evidence of hand-tooling, such as irregular hand-cut dovetails and hand-slotted brass screws. The timber often develops a deep oxidisation patina and natural age shrinkage around joints over time.

A slotted mahogany box functions well placed flat on an office desk or library table to organise stationery, mail, or small collectibles. It can also be displayed on a bookshelf or console table as an architectural accent piece.

Keep the box away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood warping or finish bleaching. Regular dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and occasional application of natural beeswax polish will protect the original surface finish.
