Cased Victorian Solid Silver and Mother of Pearl Cake Knife by the Atkins Brothers, Sheffield 1892

Description

This beautiful Victorian sterling cake knife was made by Atkins Brothers and is dated Sheffield 1892. The fully hallmarked silver blade engraved with foliate scrolls, the hallmarked solid silver ferrule fitted with a carved mother of pearl handle. Serrated blade.

Presented in its original case lined with satin and velvet interior.

Cased silver cake knives are few and far between and this is a superb example.

Hallmarks:-

H.A for the Atkins Brothers.

Sheffield Assay mark.

Lion passant.

Date letter 'Z' for 1892.

Dimensions:

Length: 22.5cm /9 inches.

Condition:

Excellent.

Silver in very good condition.

mother of pearl handles in very good condition.
