N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this Egyptian Revival Slate Clock to the 19th Century.
This stunning antique single fusee clock has an extremely heaving shaped slate case. The top of the case has a bronze Sphinx on a rectangular section. This then leads to a large shaped top.
The base is then shaped, stepping gradually down.
The dial is then gold plated and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. The centre of the dial then has a lovely gnarled effect. The top of the dial is then signed by the maker “BARRAUD & LUNDS 41. CORNHILL LONDON”. The dial is then finished by two lovely shaped hands, a patterned surround, and a thick bevelled glass.
The movement is then a single chain fusee example of the upmost quality. It works perfectly and comes complete with its regulating pendulum, travel nut, and winding key. The movement is then signed to the back by the maker “Barraud & Lund Cornhill London”.
