The Fancy Fox has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
An ornate frieze of small oval cartouches, all vacant, set among floral garlands and scrolls. Fitted with a blue glass liner. Hallmarked to the base for London 1797, maker Solomon Hougham and partial marks inside the cover.

It measures 8cm (3 1/8") high, 10.8cm (4 1/4") long and 5cm (2") wide. It weighs 208g in total, 101g / 3.3ozt. silver weight.
In very good condition with no damage or dents and minor handling wear; the hallmarks and decoration are lovely and clear. The liner has a very small smooth nick on the inside of the rim which causes no detraction to either look or use.
