Antique Rosewood Humming Top & Launcher Ex St Johns Perrot Stimson Collection Of Treen & British Folk Art

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Opus Antiques

A great  19th century rosewood humming top and launcher. Nice to have the original launcher, they are often lost.

This comes from:''The St John Perrott Stimson Collection of Treen & British Folk Art’.

St John Perrott Stimson, who died earlier this year, was a former architect with a passion for design. This passion was the spark that drove he and his wife Judith to amass a collection of almost 4,000 domestic items dating back 300 years. Some of which were displayed at their very own museum in Westgate Hill, opposite Pembroke Castle.

Originally from Leicester, St John and Judith moved to the historic town of Pembroke in 1983. In 1986, they opened the private ''Museum of the Home'' which was open to the public each summer season.

Over the years more than 70,000 visitors viewed their cucumber straighteners, Edwardian carpet sweepers, and all manner of quirky household objects from the 17th Century to the 20th.
