1940s Silver Waltham Pocket Watch & Chain

1940s silver Waltham pocket watch & chain.

The watch has a 9 jewel stem-winding movement, grade 1609, which is working well. The movement is signed Waltham and it has the serial number 31479923 which dates it back to 1942.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and has Birmingham hallmarks for 1928 with the maker’s mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company, supplier of cases to Waltham UK.

The case has general surface marks and bruises although not too serious at all.

The movement is later to the case, often they were replaced in the event of major damage such as water ingress, although correct for the type of case.

The inner cover has a presentation for long service.

The glass lens is in nice condition with only a small chip to the bevelled edge.

The signed dial is in nice condition with only a couple of very faint surface marks. Original blued steel hands.

The watch comes on an antique double albert chain, each of the longer chain measure 23.5cm long including the T bar and clasps. The chain has Birmingham hallmarks for 1908 with each of the links have the lion passant mark and the T bar, chain and clasp have the makers mark JR.

The chain comes with an antique silver double sided fob.

The chain and fob weigh 52.2 grams in total.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
