Salisbury Antiques Centre has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The secretaire section has twelve pigeon-holes and eight small drawers, each veneered in satinwood with ivory turned knobs and a green leathered writing surface. Below this there are two cross-banded and inlaid cupboard doors which open onto further useful storage with fixed shelving. Standing on arched and shaped feet, this bookcase is in superb condition with a beautiful mellow mahogany colour and is a rare form of the genre which will probably not come our way again.
