Retro 14.48 Carat Ceylon Yellow Sapphire & Diamond Ring, Circa 1950

1940 - 1960
Description

The most amazing vintage yellow sapphire ring. The centre stone – certified as natural, unheated and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) – is a rich, honey-coloured orangey yellow. The stone is rubover set in 18k yellow gold and surrounded by 24 high white and internally clean round brilliant cut diamonds which graduate in size as they travel around the sapphire. Delightful detailing in the gallery leading to a slim, platinum shank with a further four (two each side) diamond in the shoulders. This is just wonderful.

Accompanied by a sapphire report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.

Cut – Cushion cut sapphire with round brilliant cut diamonds.

Colour – The diamonds are G to H.

Clarity – The sapphire is eye clean. The diamonds are VS1 to VS2.

Carat – The sapphire is 14.48 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 1.70 carat.

Circa – 1950.

Size – N (UK) or 6.5 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.

Measurements – The sapphire is 16.16 x 13.14mm. The head of the ring is 24.6 x 20.5mm and sits 8.1mm from the finger.

Metal – Platinum. The sapphire is set in 18k yellow gold. Tested.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
