AS WITH ALL TURKISH PRAYER RUGS THE PILE IS WOVEN IN OPPOSITION TO THE DESIGN MEANING IN IMAGE 1 AS YOU LOOK AT IT THE PILE GOES UPWARDS AS OPPOSED TO GOING DOWN-IN IMAGE 2 THE PILE GOES DOWNWARDS (SMOOTH) BUT THE DESIGN IS UPSIDE DOWN THIS IS A PECULIAR TRAIT IN VIRTUALLY ALL TURKISH PRAYER RUGS.
