Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian tripod supper table is a 18th-century piece of occasional furniture featuring a circular top mounted on a turned central column and three outward-curving legs. Many examples incorporate a tilting mechanism that allows the tabletop to pivot vertically for compact storage when not in use.

Dense Cuban mahogany was the primary timber chosen for fine Georgian tripod tables due to its deep colour and structural strength. Oak, walnut, and fruitwoods were also utilised for rural or utilitarian versions of the design.

Authentic period examples often show hand-planed underside surfaces, original iron catch mechanisms, and hand-cut dovetail joints where the legs join the base block. Wear around the turned column and subtle irregularity in the hand-carved legs also indicate genuine period construction.

These versatile tables serve as functional side tables next to armchairs, or as decorative accent pieces in corners. When the tabletop is tilted vertically, the piece functions as a decorative screen that highlights the wood grain pattern.

Keep the wood away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinking or timber splitting. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year to nourish the timber and maintain the original patination.
