Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Neoclassical busts draw direct inspiration from Greco-Roman antiquity, emphasizing realistic facial structure, idealized proportions, and symmetrical arrangement. Popularised during the 18th and 19th centuries, these figures were frequently created to bring architectural classical grandeur into academic and private spaces.

Plaster sculptures were traditionally created using liquid plaster poured into piece-moulds derived from original clay or marble masterworks. Once hardened, the plaster cast was turned out, hand-chased to remove seam lines, and finished with pigments or bronze patinas to mimic metallic or stone surfaces.

Older plaster casts often feature heavier overall weight due to dense plaster mixtures, visible hand-finished mould seams, and multi-layered hand-painted patinas. Original plaster casts also display subtle surface wear, paint flaking, and light oxidisation tone changes near edges and recessed carved lines.

A tall bust on a fluted pedestal works effectively as a focal feature in structural corners, foyers, or alcoves. Positioning the sculpture alongside minimalist modern furniture creates high-contrast visual interest, balancing historical classical forms with clean contemporary lines.

Dust the surface gently using a clean, soft-bristled brush or dry microfiber cloth to avoid removing delicate applied patinas. Water, chemical cleaners, and abrasive cloths must be avoided, as plaster is porous and vulnerable to moisture absorption and finish erosion.
