High Quality Gold-inlaid Silver Snuff Box

18th century
Description

A superb quality early 19th century George III period silver SNUFF BOX in particularly fine original condition and complete with an original cardboard box. Beautifully decorated with engine-turning and cast borders of flowers and leaves to both lid and base, it opens to reveal a gilded interior with full set of silver hallmarks. The lid is inlaid with a gold cartouche, engraved with a “family” crest of a boar’s head. Hallmarked for makers Thomas Pemberton and Robert Mitchell, London 1818.
