A Telescope by Negretti & Zambra

Description

A brass and leather telescope by Negretti & Zambra, with original tripod base, leather case and with good optics. 1550mm high, 1250mm wide and 690mm deep. English. Dated 1901.

Henry Negretti (1818–1879) and Joseph Zambra (1822–1897) formed a partnership in 1850, and founded the firm which would eventually be appointed opticians and scientific instrument makers to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and King Edward VII, the Royal Observatory and the British Admiralty.
