Fowey River Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
It has the traditional French striking mechanism striking a large bell, the hours on the hour and repeating the hours 2 minutes later, it also strikes once on the half hour.

The clock retains some of its original painted decoration and the enamel dial is in near perfect condition with only the smallest of hairlines near the 2 oclock.
The brasswork is elaborately crafted depicting floral motifs and to the centre bottom is a figure of a saint kneeling and clutching a crucifix.

A very rare feature of this particuar clock is the original thermometer fitted to the pendulum which is still intact and working.
It has its original weights and original winding handle.
This is without doubt one of the best condition and most original examples you will find.

The movement has just undergone a full service and comes with full setting up instructions and a 12 month warranty.
Dimensions of clock: Height 56 inches , Width is 13 inches and the dial is 8 inches in diameter.
