An unusually shaped and nicely proportioned solid silver trinket box.  The shape of the box is particularly appealing. The lid is nicely decorated with an engine turned pattern and has a vacant circular cartouche in the centre. The body is a plain polished silver and stands on four decorative fluer de lys feet.   The hinged lid opens and closes perfectly and when opened reveals a deep purple velvet interior.   Clear and crisp hallmarks are visible on the underneath for the Birmingham Assay office with a date mark for 1912 and Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker''s mark is also visible for the silver maker: Henry Matthews, with partial marks visible on the lip of the lid.  A very lovely trinket box, in great condition and nicely sized, sturdy on it''s feet and no marking or dents to the silver.   Hallmarks:  Birmingham 1912 by Henry Matthews.  Measurements:  Height: 4 cm     Width at widest part: 9.5 cm   Depth:  6.2 cm  Weight: 100 grams <...
