Original Early Victorian Mahogany Library Writing Table.

This is a marvellous example of a simply stunning Early Victorian library writing table believed to be made around C1840. This original table has a solid Mahogany top with beautiful grain and is a 1 plank top with no joints. Under the tabletop are 2 finely crafted full width dovetailed solid Mahogany drawers complete with moulded edges and original finely turned knobs. The drawers are lockable via their original brass locks behind brass keyhole escutcheons, complete with its original period key. This fantastic table features its beautiful original rich Mahogany colour and highly glazed french polished finish.

This original table stands on twin pedestal octagonal turned support columns incorporating a relief turned collar to finish to the legs. The columns support the scroll shaped and carved legs which stand on its original brass castors.

This very useful writing table is ideal to be used as a sofa table, lamp table, in a hallway or even as a desk as it has the perfect proportions. Laptops or tablets could even be stored inside of the drawers and locked closed.

Its really a beautiful collectors piece and a very desirable rare find in this original condition.

We have just cleaned and waxed this table to give a natural shine and enhance the surface.

This item is in superb condition for its age as shown by the photographs below. Being an antique item of this age there are obviously marks, scratches, dents and old repairs. However, we feel that these points are which adds to its charm and character so we have left it untouched as it came in from the previous owner and have just cleaned and waxed this item.
