M Lees and Sons has dated this Regency Mahogany Card Table to the Regency era.
. The canted-corner rectangular swivelling and folding top and frame all inlaid with ebony line inlay. The base applied with decorative turned ebonised paterae roundels , corresponding ebony line inlay and having ebonised ring turnings .

The interior of the fold-over top having been re-lined in our workshops with a scarlet baize felt , replacing and copying the worn original.
In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina to the figured mahogany, the ebony providing a subtle contrast .Has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

The use of ebony on furniture of this period probably alluding to the mourning of nation to the deaths of King George III or the national hero Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson .
