It is classical in design with Corinthian columns, mythical dragons to the sides, lions mask above the dial and a cherub mask below. It sits on a stylised base of swirling seas and mythical sea creatures. The feet are hairy paw. The front of the clock is elaborately blind fretted. The large dial is enamel on copper with a brass centre, this has the retailers cartouche mounted to it. Candelabra are conforming in style with pieced ovoid urns with handles formed as mythical creatures. The branches are elaborately formed as foliage and the snuffers sit in the central sconces as finials.

The French movement is of high quality and has the Japy Freres mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully serviced by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Paste the video clip below into your browser's address bar to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
