A rare and stunning 18th Century Dutch Colonial Ceylonese East India Company chest on stand. Dated 1751 within V.O.C.(Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie ) engraved brass adornments. Of solid Indian satinwood construction with Macassar Ebony mouldings and original and complete decorative chased brass and studded detail. The sides with further brass studding and bold carrying handles.The stand having a Macasser Ebony moulded top above 3 ebony inlaid drawers with working locks and keys, bold brass handles and further engraved brass decoration. The whole raised on traditional Dutch style turned feet with yet more brass decoration. Condition- Very good, original and complete with a few dents to the large domed brass studs and engraved V.O.C 1751 in 8 places. Dimensions:- Height…37.5’’/ 95.5cm. Width…48’’/ 122cm.
