Matthew Boulton Old Sheffield Plated Serving Tureen with Crest

Description

A fine Old Sheffield Plated serving tureen by the celebrated manufacturer Matthew Boulton. Dating c1800-1820, with beautiful gadrooned edging and shaped body. With a removable twist handle. The piece is double crested on inlaid silver cartouches with an armoured arm holding a cutlass.

The condition is very good overall with no dents or splits. The plating is in very good order with some copper bleeding to the underside and faint internal scratching due to use. With a good strong handle. A slight warp to the lid meaning it does not quite sit flush but overall a fine quality piece.

Weight approx 1.7kg.
