A rare find, this magnificent novelty toast rack / Egg Cruet of sporting interest, consists of the toast rack with an egg cup either end kept in place by an integral pin and two egg spoons; all in silver plate (EPNS). The spoons are signed by the silversmith, William Briggs & Co. of Sheffield.
The sections are made in the form of cricket bats, the feet created in the form of four leather cricket balls and finial another cricket ball topped with a ring handle with two crossed cricket bats, two cricket balls and stumps embossed into the handle.
The piece is lucky enough to have an English design registration lozenge which allows us to accurately date the design of this piece to 3rd August 1872.
A highly collectable piece in superb condition measuring 8'' x 3 1/4'' x 6 1/4''.
