Description

For your consideration is this superb Smiths glass & mirror 8 day clock in fully serviced condition.

The frame is constructed from a moulded wooden base standing on flat gilt brass pads and the 5mm thick tinted plate glass with wave shape gilt brass uprights either side retaining the glass. The 5 inch gilt brass chapter ring is outside of the convex glass that covers a mirrored dial centre and hands. The mirror is a light mauve colour as is the tinted plate glass. Superb gilt hands. The gilt brass chapter ring has slight discolour. Gilt Arabic numerals at 3,6,9 and 12. Five minute markers are formed by slits in the brass. The main plate glass has a slight bevel edged to the front side and smoothed and polished edges to all sides.

Time piece only giving 8 days running on a full wind. Fitted with a 7 jewel platform escapement. Winding and time set is at the rear with integral keys.

Timekeeping adjustment if required are through a small aperture at the rear.
