A rare Anglo Indian Japanned tin cartridge magazine by Allibhoy Vallijee of Moolton, India, which will hold 200 12 bore shotgun cartridges, with leather pull up straps to facilitate cartridge extraction.
In fabulous dusty ‘country house attic’ condition, this cartridge magazine is covered in charming old labels and is stencilled MAJOR J.W. JENNINGS to the top in white lettering.
Major James Willes Jennings DSO of The Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) served on the Nile Campaign in 1896, with the Egyptian Army, in South Africa, in East Africa and with the Abyssinian Army against Muhammad Ibn Abd Allah in Somaliland, before retiring in 1911. He was then recalled from retirement in 1914 to serve in the First World War.
He was the author of With The Abyssinians In Somaliland, Hodder and Stoughton, London 1905.
