Gents antique Elgin wrist watch, 1923.

The watch has a seven jewel hand-winding movement, grade 467, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 25589039 which dates it back to 1923… the grade 467 was in production from 1918 to 1924.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The watch was originally designed as a man’s watch but, by today’s standards, it would suit a slimmer wrist. The case is gold filled and was made for Elgin by the case makers Bates & Bacon. There is some rubbing in places, and some unevenness to the back.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has a hairline crack running through the centre, and one over number 7. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
