Edwardian Spot Hammered Silver Magnifying Glass by a & J Zimmerman, Birmingham 1906

1900 - 1920
Description

This unusual and very tactile silver desk magnifying glass is dated Birmingham 1906 and was made by the prolific A&J Zimreman. Both sides of the handle spot-hammered in the Arts & Craft manner. The front and back with a vacant oval reserve. Mounted with a 5cm diameter steel mount inset with magnifying glass.

Hallmarks:

A&J Z for A&J Zimmerman Ltd.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "g" for 1906.

Condition:

Very good.

Handle in excellent condition.

Glass with no surface scratching.

Dimensions:

Length 14cm / 5.4 inches.

Glass diameter: 5 cm / 2 inches.
