A 19th century set of bone alphabet tiles and also more unusually numbers. There are numbers from1-10 with roman numerals on the other side.
The mahogany box is divided into sections for each letter and number, there are approx 80 tiles in total. The box is stamped Calvert 189 Fleet Street, well know maker in London, particularly for his chess sets, but also sold beautiful wooden backgammon boards, Pope Joan etc.
