Lancastrian Jewellers has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The chain is hallmarked dating to Birmingham 1887, during the Victorian era.
The chain was named after Prince Albert, who was said to have been fond of wearing watch chains. The Dog clip would have been used to attach a pocket watch or fob to and the T-Bar would go through the button hole of a waistcoat to secure in place.
Today these are worn as necklaces and the clip can be used to hang pendants or charms from.
This is a quality example of an Albert chain which would make a great addition to any collection.
